How to Donate

Employer Matching Gift Program

Many employers encourage giving and charitable contributions by matching those charitable donations that their employees make. By contacting Human Resouces or discussing the contribution with your boss, you may double your contribution to the Centro Medico.

Donate to the Centro Medico

Centro Medico Humberto Parra is funded entirely from private donations and grants. The Daniels Hamant Foundation, a small foundation based in River Forest, Illinois, is our primary source of funding. Contributions from individuals also provide much needed financial support.

Success Story

Patient Clara

Clara was over 50 years old and had never been to the doctor. She had ten pregnancies, and all of her children were born in her home with a single woman in attendance. For that reason, her daughter insisted that she visit the clinic while the OB/GYN doctor, Janice Duke, was working there in February 2007. Dr. Duke volunteers at Centro Medico for a few weeks each year providing many women, like Clara, with the chance to have her first full gynecological check-up. Clara's fear was overcome by her daughter's insistence and she had her first pap smear at 52 years of age.

When the results of Clara's pap smear came back, she and her family were saddened by the news that she had cervical dysplasia. However, the staff in Bolivia and the US wasted no time in arranging for Clara's treatment.

Clara had a hysterectomy in June 2007 at Clinica Ubari in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The cost of her surgery was 280 USD, and the total cost of her treatment was 350 USD. Thanks to the Foundation's supporters Clara is cancer free and leading a healthier life today. You can help patients like Clara receive proper care and treatment by donating to our patient fund today. A donation of 350 USD can provide another woman like Clara with the lifesaving care she needs.

This is a note we received from her daughter after the surgery:

Estoy muy agradecida por salvar la vida de mi mama y a la doctora Duke por hacer un gran trabajo. Gracias a ella pude saber lo que tenia mi mama y gracias a la Fundacion que me ayudo economicamente. MUCHAS GRACIAS. Atentamente Guindalina.

I am very grateful that my mother's life was saved and to Dr. Duke for doing a great job. Thanks to her, I was able to know what ailed my mother and thanks to the Foundation for helping me financially. Many thanks. Attentively, Guindalina.

Many ways to donate

Buy an Item

Centro Medico T-Shirt

Buy a Centro Medico Humberto Parra T-shirt to show support for the clinic. Each t-shirt costs $20, which covers the cost of making the shirt, shipping, and the rest goes towards the clinic.

The Surgery Fund

The Surgery Fund

The Surgery Fund is a fund which goes directly towards helping fund a surgical brigade. The brigade brings a lot of their own supplies, as well as some being obtained in Bolivia, but they are expensive so every dollar counts. They are a new quite needed component of our care.

Patient Charts

The combined population of the surrounding communities of Centro Medico is over 40,000 people. The clinic itself serves over 600 people per month and sees an average of 3 new patients each day. To help with our continuity of care and to efficiently organize patient information we hope to benefit from an improved charting system. A box of 500 charts costs $250 and we are asking for donations toward our starting goal of 10,000 filing charts.
