Susan Hou provides care to one of our patients in his town. Often patients cannot make the trip to Centro Medico and the physicians of the clinic pack up medications and supplies and go on a 30 min to 3 hour drive to a community through muddy, poorly constructed roads and set up shop at a local school or church.
The founders of the Centro Medico Humberto Parra, Susan Hou, Douglas Villarroel, and Mark Molitch, reflect on the how the clinic effects the people and the community that it serves and on the role of philanthropy.
The clinic founders discuss the services provided by the clinic including primary care, ophthalmology, dentistry, gynecology and the occasional surgery. Each service comes out of our budget of entirely private donations from people in the U.S.
This video details the stories of two of our patients who had a hysterectomy and a pacemaker placement funded and organized through the CMHP showing how far a small amount of money can go.
